“We landed in the Andes, in Chile, in midst of the biggest snowstorm of the season—a thrilling prospect as I was there on a snow holiday!
But what comes with a snowstorm is not only lots of snow, but also road closures, poor visibility and a lot of cloud cover.
This meant that, even though we were staying right there in the mountains, we had no idea of where we were and what was really around us.
We couldn’t see anything but white—white clouds and white snow. This, coupled with the road closures, meant there were also not many opportunities for exploration.
But eventually the storm cleared, the cloud lifted and, gloriously, this view appeared in front of us. As the last light faded, I captured this moment, wine in hand, standing knee deep in snow on the edge of the mountains.”
